Rare Apple-1 Computer Sells for Over $300,000 at Auction
A historic Apple-1 computer has recently commanded a staggering price of $315,914 ( ₹2.5 crore) at auction. This particular Apple-1, sold on August 22, was not only fully restored but also came with all necessary components and accessories. A Piece of Apple’s History
The Apple-1 auctioned belonged to Dana Redington, Apple’s pioneering applications engineer. Redington had been in possession of the computer since early 1978, having received it directly from Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Redington recounted the moment, saying,
“In early 1978, while preparing for a move to a new building, I came across a stack of Apple I boards that were set to be discarded. Apple was offering a trade-in program for the Apple II, and with permission from Wozniak and Jobs, I selected the best motherboard and a few cassette interface cards from the pile.”

The auction also featured several noteworthy items. An Apple Lisa-1 computer with its original ‘Twiggy’ drives sold for $81,251.
