On October 15, 2024, the John Keells Group inaugurated the Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams Sri Lanka in Colombo. This luxury hotel boasts 687 opulent rooms and is a significant milestone in the country’s tourism landscape. With an investment exceeding USD 1.2 billion, this project is the largest private venture in Sri Lanka’s history.

Transforming Colombo’s Event Scene

Cinnamon Life emerges as the largest event venue in Colombo. It features state-of-the-art ballrooms and conference facilities designed to host over 5,000 guests. This capacity positions the venue as a top choice for international conferences and large-scale events. The project aims to enhance Colombo’s reputation as a premier destination for global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

A Culinary Journey Awaits

The hotel employs over 1,500 professionals, including 250 chefs, to deliver an extraordinary dining experience. Guests can savor various cuisines, from a chic French bistro to an American grill. The establishment also boasts a sophisticated wine bar, offering an extensive selection of wines, alongside a two-tier Champagne and cocktail bar. More dining options will open soon, promising to elevate the culinary landscape further.

Ideal Setting for Weddings and Events

Cinnamon Life is not just for business; it is also a prime location for destination weddings and special events. Its unique blend of modern elegance and local charm creates unforgettable experiences for celebrations. The picturesque settings offer a beautiful backdrop for couples and their guests.

Future Developments

While the hotel officially opened, additional features will follow in mid-2025. This includes a luxury shopping mall, entertainment areas, and the ultra-luxurious 113-room Nuwa hotel. These components will complete the landmark project, enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.

Economic Impact and Job Creation

Krishan Balendra, Chairperson of the John Keells Group, emphasized the project’s transformative potential for the Group and the country. He expressed confidence that the City of Dreams will become a catalyst for tourism growth and foreign exchange earnings. The project is anticipated to create over 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, boosting local employment and community engagement.

Celebrating Sri Lankan Art

Strategically located in Colombo’s urban core, Cinnamon Life houses over 1,000 commissioned, museum-grade artworks created by renowned Sri Lankan artists. This impressive collection highlights the depth of Sri Lankan art and serves to preserve the country’s artistic heritage in a contemporary context.
